I’m looking for a new swimsuit. My old ones were stretched beyond recognition after my pregnancy. A swimsuit is definitely one of those things I know I wouldn’t be able to sew.
I want a one-piece gear, clearly it must have a retro inspired design and won’t break a bank. I love these pieces I found on etsy but most of them are beyond my budget. Still, they are super-duper gorgeous, don’t you think?

Which is why, I really need to win the Grosgrain’s Shabby Apple Queensland Swimsuit Giveaway! If I win, I get this!
How cool is that?
Hi! I found your blog through Sew Retro. Looking at some of the garments you have made, you might want to try sewing a swimsuit. The good thing is that if you totally mess up, it won’t be a lot of fabric and you will have gained experience for the next time. I have made a few. Using clear elastic for swimsuits and the correct needle for lycra is a big help. I also started sewing when our son was born and had learned enough to make exactly what I wanted to wear at his wedding many years later. My husband was in Singapore last summer on business (from the USA) and was was very impressed with your pretty country.
Hi Emily, thanks for the encouragement and suggestion. I will try doing the swimsuit when I feel more ready:) Meanwhile, I will need to look around and see if the notions and materials are available here. I would love to make a dress to wear at my son’s wedding some day:) He’s only four but I think he has a lil girlfriend from New Zealand in school:P Glad your husband likes Singapore. Come visit one day and we can go fabric shopping together.
