There were some queries on where I usually purchase fabric so I created this page:
International sources
1. Fabric.com
Fave buys: include knits, stretch laces, cottons, chiffon, wool and corduroys,
2. Emmaonesock
Fave buys: knits, cottons, dressweight fabrics and tweeds
Fave buys: silks, crepe de chine, cottons, knits and lots of “new to me” fabrics!
4. Fabric Tales
Fave buys: Japanese double gauze, unusual stripes
Singapore sources
The fabric market at Block 32, New Market Road Singapore 050032
Spotlight at Plaza Singapura

Hi….do you know where I can find store that sells clothing patterns (vintage & modern) in S’pore? I’m from Indonesia and will be coming to S’pore in August. I just learn how to sew and your site really inspired me to make my own clothes…you are very talented.
Hi Lynita, the only place in Singapore which I know sells sewing pattern is Spotlight at Plaza Singapura. Mainly modern patterns with a few Vogue vintage reprints available. Glad you are learning to sew, I hope you have fun sewing and shopping in Singapore!
Would like to share my fabric collections. gracesetsy.etsy.com : )
I wonder how the Japanese double gauze fabric looks/feels like? I recently discovered an online shop that sell nani iro fabrics and I love the prints but don’t know how the fabric is (thickness, drape…).
@Doortje: The double gauze is made with two layers of really thin fabric which makes it very light weight and soft. Hope that helps:)
It seems like it is the ideal fabric for the summer. I like to prewash my cotton fabrics on high temperature. The nani iro looks quite delicate. Is it ok to prewash it at 120-140 F?
Yes, double gauze is definitely ideal for summer but you are right on it being more delicate cos’ it has a gauze like weave and I wouldn’t recommend washing on high temperature.
Thanks for the info. I’m in Singapore for a few days and will definitely check out Malin Textiles and Spotlight!
Hi Adey,
I’m super inspired by your creations. I love them! I have been into designing, cutting, and sewing too. I live in Singapore and i’m wondering if do you know Maria Martin pattern drafter is sold here? This is very useful for enthiusiasts who are very busy but still want to get in touch with pattern making in a speedy world of Singapore
Hi Maia
Thanks so much for your message:) I’m happy to meet another sewing enthusiast from Singapore:) On your query, I’m afraid I’ve not seen the Maria Martin pattern drafter here.
Have a great week! Adey
